The Simulation Cycle

How The Engine Works

Four sequential phases, repeated every round. Every choice creates a tradeoff that compounds into the next.

PHASE 01

Found Your Company

Choose your legal entity type — LLC, sole proprietorship, or corporation — and select the state jurisdiction for registration. Each structure carries different tax implications, liability exposure, and operating costs that compound across every subsequent round. Your founding decisions aren't cosmetic; they're the constraints you'll operate within for the rest of the simulation.

Step 1 of 4→
PHASE 02

Run Your Departments

Each round, allocate budget across five interconnected departments. Hire staff, purchase inventory, set pricing strategy, and approve marketing spend. Every allocation creates a tradeoff: money spent in Operations is money unavailable for Sales. Departments don't operate in isolation — an understaffed HR department drags morale across the entire company.

Step 2 of 4→
PHASE 03

Face Market Events

Between rounds, the difficulty engine injects randomized crises: supply chain delivery failures, recessions, fuel surcharges, and sudden economic shifts. Each event targets specific departments and demands real resource decisions under pressure. You can't predict them, but you can build enough operational resilience to absorb them.

Step 3 of 4→
PHASE 04

Compete & Climb

Your company's operational score — a composite of profitability, compliance, team stability, and growth — feeds a global leaderboard. Track your performance against other founders running the same scenario, unlock advanced industry verticals, and see exactly where your decision-making breaks down compared to the field.

The Founder's Dilemma
